Welcome to Northridge Haven
Northridge Haven Retirement Village is a small non-for-profit, Christian community. It has 26 Independent Living Units, allowing residents to enjoy an independent lifestyle for as long as possible, both within the village and in the greater community. Your unit is your own private space within the village. Enjoy as much contact with other residents as you wish. You're also welcome to have family and friends stay with you for short stays or holidays.
Toowoomba, The Garden City, has all kinds of shopping, sporting, and dining delights. A bus stop is very handy right at the village entrance.
There is a shopping centre 5 minutes away from the village, and St Andrew's Hospital is just around the corner on North Street.
FAQs
-
What is retirement living?
Retirement living is a community style, independent living arrangement with specially designed residences to suit the needs of older people. There are many styles of villages and accommodation options in Australia, including independent living villas, units, studios and apartments, with services and facilities varying from village to village.
Retirement living is being independent in your own home surrounded by neighbours and friends, with the benefits of maintained gardens.

When is the right time to move into a Retirement Village?
Moving to a retirement village is a very personal decision that differs for everyone. Only you can decide when the time is right, but don't wait too long! The most frequent comment we hear from our residents is: "We wish we had made the move years ago."
People generally move into a retirement village when they start to feel the family home is too large and the upkeep is too much, which makes downsizing to a retirement village a great option. Other reasons include wanting to live in a supportive community of like minded people.
Northridge Haven Retirement Village has been designed to meet your accommodation needs while living in a Christian community and spending time with people who have similar interests and hobbies.
-
Are there special requirements to become a resident at Northridge Haven Retirement Village?
Yes. Residents must be over 55 years of age and be capable of independent living including day-to-day running of their home. In keeping with the concept of Northridge Haven, a resident needs to be of Christian conviction, although not necessarily Lutheran.
-
What are the financial arrangements?
The units are resident funded, which simply means you pay the cost of a residential licence. While you don't actually own the property, you enter into a residency agreement with Northridge Haven, which entitles you to occupy your new home for as long as you like.
-
Are there other costs?
Yes, a General Service Fee is paid by residents to cover rates, insurance, maintenance and security, presently $84 per week. Residents also pay their own telephone, gas, and electricity accounts.
-
What are the units like?
All units are of brick construction with Colorbond® roof. They have a spacious open plan living area, two bedrooms with built in robes. Kitchens have electric fan-forced oven and benchtop hot plates. There are plenty of cupboards for ample storage space. All units have a single garage and many units have an outdoor living area, natural gas hot water service and heating. Each unit has town water, a rain water tank and bore water for the garden.
-
Are visitors allowed?
Certainly. Northridge Haven is your home and all normal activities are encourages.
-
Are there any hidden restrictions?
No, quite the reverse. Northridge Haven will allow you much greater freedom from normal cares and responsibilities than can be set down here. The only limitations are the normal considerations and courtesies which members of any community of people expect from one another.
-
When will units be available and what is the approximate cost?
Units become available when a vacancy occurs. The cost of the license is approximately $180,000 + upgrades.
-
Who takes care of the village?
Northridge Haven is managed by a committee from the Good Shepherd and Redeemer Lutheran congregations.
The village is supervised and maintained by a Manager who lives on site.
Each unit has a small garden area that may be gardened by the resident or left in the Managers' capable hands.
